ABOUT DR. ANNIE AHN, PH.D.

Dr. Ahn is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been in practice for over 10 years in the Orange County area. She is strongly invested in helping clients gain insight, heal from emotional pain and develop lifelong skills. Dr. Ahn creates a warm and safe space where clients can feel comfortable being open and honest. She is particularly skilled at asking thought provoking questions that clients may have not considered. Dr. Ahn aims to deepen clients’ self-understanding on how their past impacts them currently and gives them interpersonal feedback when relevant. Dr. Ahn presents clients with alternative perspectives and evidence based treatments to improve their emotional regulation, stress management, communication, and conflict resolution. Dr. Ahn works collaboratively with clients and uniquely tailors her interventions based on her clients’ needs and preferences.

Dr. Ahn is mindful and conscientious of how clients’ identities intersect and play a meaningful role in their worldview and sociocultural context. During her fifteen years working at university counseling centers, she had the privilege to work with clients from various cultural backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, religions, abilities, and life experiences. Dr. Ahn also has expertise in Asian American mental health where she has research publications in the areas of generation gaps between immigrant parents and US raised children, acculturation concerns and interracial relationships.

Dr. Ahn finds it rewarding when she is able to hear her clients share that their symptoms have decreased, their relationships have become more stable and secure, and their lives have more intentionality, authenticity, and meaning. During her personal time, Dr. Ahn loves spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoys hiking, traveling, going to the beach, and watching movies.
