About Dr. Natalia Sagardía, Psy.D.

Dr. Natalia Sagardía, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, emotional difficulties, behavioral concerns, and other challenges that affect daily life. Her work also includes psychological assessments, which can help provide a clearer understanding of a person’s difficulties and guide decisions about treatment and support. She provides services in English and Spanish.

People seek psychological services for different reasons. Some are struggling with a particular issue, while others have noticed changes in mood, behavior, or relationships they want to better understand. Sometimes it is simply difficult to pinpoint what is wrong. Whatever brings someone to therapy, Dr. Sagardía prioritizes understanding each person’s situation rather than assuming that one approach will work for everyone.

In sessions, she encourages open conversation and works with clients to identify what they would like to change or improve. Depending on the concerns being addressed, this may involve understanding patterns of thinking and behavior, learning ways to manage difficult emotions, or developing practical strategies for everyday situations. She wants clients to feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and taking an active role in their care.

She also values addressing concerns before they become more difficult to manage. Helping people understand their mental health, recognize potential difficulties early, and learn useful coping skills is part of how she approaches care, alongside work with existing concerns.

Background & Experience

Dr. Sagardía completed her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Counseling Psychology at Universidad Albizu in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She previously earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the same university and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston University. Her clinical training has included outpatient clinics, psychiatric hospitals, schools, and community organizations. She has provided individual and group psychotherapy and psychological assessments, and has worked alongside other mental health professionals with people of different ages and backgrounds.

Much of her experience with adults has involved anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, substance use, and other psychiatric concerns. She has also provided psychological services to children and adolescents experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties, developmental concerns, or challenges adjusting to changes at home, at school, or in their personal lives. Psychological and developmental evaluation—using clinical interviews, standardized tests, and behavioral observations—is an important part of her clinical work to understand functioning, explore possible diagnoses, and make recommendations based on specific needs. She provides services in English and Spanish and continues to pursue ongoing clinical education as research and practice evolve.
