About Dr. Danny Meza, Ph.D.
Dr. Danny Meza is a licensed clinical psychologist currently living in Tucson, AZ. Dr. Meza approaches psychotherapy as an integrative psychodynamic counselor, working to establish supportive alliances with patients while also addressing their clinical concerns with evidence-based treatments. In building a supportive alliance with patients, Dr. Meza empowers patients to address mental health symptoms and diagnoses as well as transforming their own “relationship” to the self. For example, a patient with ADHD experiences improved workplace and social functioning when addressing their related symptoms with behavioral management, but also improves self-efficacy and self-compassion in a genuinely encouraging therapeutic environment.
Abating symptomatic barriers is crucial to mental health and functioning, but Dr. Meza also adheres to the importance of one’s self-belief.
Before recently returning to his hometown, Dr. Meza spent the last 12 years training and practicing in California, most recently in the Bay Area. His dissertation research examined the positive psychological impact of participation in Chicano/a Studies programs at the undergraduate level.
He is also a Gottman Level 2 couples counselor and has certification in Advanced Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management of personality disorders.
Outside of work, Danny enjoys spending time with his wife Madeleine, two cats Ronnie and Bagheera, and old vinyl records.
