UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and Optum members in Washington can choose between two in-network psychologists who see clients statewide by secure video. Both have deep training in substance use and trauma, and both take a whole-person approach to care.

Read on for what we treat in Washington, how we match you with a clinician, and how we check your Optum or UnitedHealthcare benefits.

Secure video from Puget Sound to the Palouse

Members meet from Redmond, Kirkland, Renton, Kent, Federal Way, Bremerton, Port Angeles, Mount Vernon, Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Pullman, and Kennewick, on Pacific time. You’ll need to be in Washington during each session. For people on islands or the Olympic Peninsula, video makes regular therapy far more practical. See how teletherapy works. If you’d prefer to meet in person, we also have offices throughout the US; ask our admin team whether in-person visits are an option with your clinician.

Concerns we help with

Members reach out for substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), identity development, and questions about values, spirituality, and creativity that shape well-being.

Our Washington clinicians

Psychological Healing has 40 clinicians, offering in-person sessions in 20 states and video sessions in 44 states. Our Washington clinicians who are active with Optum and UnitedHealthcare see members by secure video across the state. When you reach out, our admin team matches you with a clinician whose license, focus, and schedule fit what you need. You can read about everyone on our team.

What to expect when you start

Early sessions focus on assessment and goal-setting. You may complete a few brief questionnaires so you and your clinician can track change over time. From there, therapy becomes more active: learning skills, practicing them between sessions, and checking what’s working. If something about the fit doesn’t feel right, tell us, and we’ll help you find another clinician in Washington if one is available.

Verifying your Optum or UHC coverage

We check benefits before your first session so you know what to expect. That includes whether outpatient therapy is covered, whether video visits are covered the same way as office visits, whether your plan asks for a referral or prior authorization, and where you are on your deductible. Most commercial plans don’t need a referral for outpatient therapy, but we confirm yours. Start through the Contact page with your member identification (ID) number. We do not accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans.

Booking your first appointment

The first step is a quick note through our appointment request form. Include your state (Washington), your insurance, and a sentence or two about what you’re looking for. We’ll check your benefits, suggest a good fit, and set up your first secure video visit. Most people are surprised how simple it is.

Frequently asked questions

What does holistic therapy mean here?

It means looking at physical health, relationships, identity, values, and creative life alongside symptoms, not in isolation.

Is video therapy covered the same as in-person?

Often yes, but plans vary. We confirm telehealth coverage when we verify your benefits.

Can I choose between the two Washington clinicians?

Yes. Tell us your preference, or describe your goals and our admin team will suggest a fit.

Do I need a referral with UnitedHealthcare?

Most commercial UHC plans don’t require a referral for outpatient therapy, but some do. We’ll check yours.
