UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and Optum members in Ohio have two in-network options with Psychological Healing: a Columbus-based psychologist who works with children, teens, and families, and a trauma specialist for adults. Both see members statewide by secure video.

Read on for what we treat in Ohio, how we match you with a clinician, and how we check your Optum or UnitedHealthcare benefits.

Secure video for Ohio families and adults

Members meet from Upper Arlington, Westerville, Lakewood, Parma, Mason, Springfield, Mansfield, Sandusky, Lima, Marietta, and more, on Eastern time. You’ll need to be in Ohio during each session. For families, video means a parent can join from work while a teen joins from home, and nobody has to leave school early for an appointment. See how teletherapy works. If you’d prefer to meet in person, we also have offices throughout the US; ask our admin team whether in-person visits are an option with your clinician.

Concerns we help with

Ohio Optum and UHC members see us for child and teen behavior concerns, parenting support, young adult transitions, work stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Our Ohio clinicians

Psychological Healing has 40 clinicians, offering in-person sessions in 20 states and video sessions in 44 states. Our Ohio clinicians who are active with Optum and UnitedHealthcare see members by secure video across the state. When you reach out, our admin team matches you with a clinician whose license, focus, and schedule fit what you need. You can read about everyone on our team.

What to expect when you start

Early sessions focus on assessment and goal-setting. You may complete a few brief questionnaires so you and your clinician can track change over time. From there, therapy becomes more active: learning skills, practicing them between sessions, and checking what’s working. If something about the fit doesn’t feel right, tell us, and we’ll help you find another clinician in Ohio if one is available.

Optum or UHC coverage, step by step

Send your member identification (ID) number through our Contact page. Our admin team then confirms whether Optum or UnitedHealthcare manages your mental health benefits, checks that telehealth from Ohio is covered, and looks for any referral or authorization requirements. We explain the results before we schedule anything, so your first session can focus on you rather than paperwork. We do not accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans.

When you’re ready

Request an appointment through our short online form. We’ll ask where you’re located (you’ll need to be in Ohio for sessions), what insurance you have, and what you’re hoping to change. Then we verify benefits and suggest times with a clinician who fits your goals.
