If your mental health benefits come through UnitedHealthcare (UHC) or Optum, you can see a Georgia therapist without hunting through outdated directories. Psychological Healing is in-network with both, and our Georgia clinician offers trauma-focused, affirming care by secure video.

Read on for what we treat in Georgia, how we match you with a clinician, and how we check your Optum or UnitedHealthcare benefits.

Secure video for Georgia members

Members join from home, work, or another private spot anywhere in Georgia, from Marietta and Decatur to Albany, Rome, Brunswick, and Dalton. All sessions are on Eastern time. Telehealth helps people who juggle caregiving, shift work, or long commutes fit therapy in. You must be located in Georgia during each session. See how teletherapy works. If you’d prefer to meet in person, we also have offices throughout the US; ask our admin team whether in-person visits are an option with your clinician.

Conditions we treat

Georgia members see us for trauma, racial trauma, anxiety, depression, anger and emotion regulation, and relationship patterns shaped by past events. Care draws on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness.

Our Georgia clinician

Psychological Healing has 40 clinicians, offering in-person sessions in 20 states and video sessions in 44 states. Our Georgia clinician who is active with Optum and UnitedHealthcare sees members by secure video across the state. When you reach out, our admin team matches you with a clinician whose license, focus, and schedule fit what you need. You can read about everyone on our team.

What the first session is like

Your first appointment is mostly about getting to know you. Your clinician will ask what brought you in, how long it has been going on, what you’ve tried, and what you’d like to be different. You’ll leave with a shared sense of the goals and a rough plan. There’s no right way to show up; many Georgia members say they were nervous beforehand and relieved afterward.

Does UnitedHealthcare cover therapy?

Most UnitedHealthcare commercial plans include outpatient mental health benefits, often managed by Optum Behavioral Health. Federal parity rules generally require mental health care to be covered on terms comparable to medical care, but your deductible and other details depend on your plan. Our admin team verifies your coverage for sessions in Georgia and tells you what to expect. We do not accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans.

When you’re ready

Request an appointment through our short online form. We’ll ask where you’re located (you’ll need to be in Georgia for sessions), what insurance you have, and what you’re hoping to change. Then we verify benefits and suggest times with a clinician who fits your goals.

Frequently asked questions

Is your Georgia clinician affirming of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer clients?

Yes. Our Georgia clinician works with clients across sexual orientations and gender identities and offers anti-racist, nonjudgmental therapy.

What happens if I change jobs and get a new UHC plan?

Let us know before your next session. We’ll verify the new plan so your care continues without surprises.

What does trauma therapy look like with Optum coverage?

The plan is individualized. It often starts with assessment and goal-setting, then moves into processing past events and building coping skills.

Is video therapy covered the same as in-person?

Often yes, but plans vary. We confirm telehealth coverage when we verify your benefits.
