UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and Optum members across Idaho can see an in-network, Idaho-licensed clinician by secure video. Our Idaho clinician has deep experience with trauma, including complex trauma after abuse, and starts every course of care with a careful assessment.

Read on for what we treat in Idaho, how we match you with a clinician, and how we check your Optum or UnitedHealthcare benefits.

Secure video from the Treasure Valley to the Panhandle

Rural Idaho often has few specialists within an easy drive. With telehealth, members in Caldwell, Eagle, Burley, Rexburg, Blackfoot, Post Falls, and small towns across the state can meet from a private room at home. Sessions are scheduled in your local time, Mountain or Pacific. You’ll need to be in Idaho for each session. Learn how teletherapy works. If you’d prefer to meet in person, we also have offices throughout the US; ask our admin team whether in-person visits are an option with your clinician.

Conditions we treat

Common concerns include trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and substance use. Care is tailored to your strengths and goals.

Our Idaho clinician

Psychological Healing has 40 clinicians, offering in-person sessions in 20 states and video sessions in 44 states. Our Idaho clinician who is active with Optum and UnitedHealthcare sees members by secure video across the state. When you reach out, our admin team matches you with a clinician whose license, focus, and schedule fit what you need. You can read about everyone on our team.

How therapy usually unfolds

Most people meet weekly at first, then space sessions out as things improve. Your clinician will check in regularly about progress, and you can raise concerns about pace or focus at any point. Treatment ends when you’ve reached your goals and feel ready to keep going on your own, not on a fixed timeline. We’ll help Idaho members plan for that transition.

UnitedHealthcare card, Optum benefits: how to check

On many UnitedHealthcare plans, Optum manages the mental health side of your benefits. Your card may say UnitedHealthcare while your therapy claims go to Optum, and that’s normal. Look on the back of the card for a behavioral health or mental health line. Or skip the phone tree: send your member identification (ID) number through our Contact page and our admin team will verify your outpatient benefits for telehealth in Idaho. We do not accept Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans.

Booking your first appointment

The first step is a quick note through our appointment request form. Include your state (Idaho), your insurance, and a sentence or two about what you’re looking for. We’ll check your benefits, suggest a good fit, and set up your first secure video visit. Most people are surprised how simple it is.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in the first session?

Expect a thorough assessment of your history, current concerns, and strengths, which becomes the basis for a treatment plan you build together.

Do I need a referral with UnitedHealthcare?

Most commercial UHC plans don’t require a referral for outpatient therapy, but some do. We’ll check yours.

Do you see Idaho members who also struggle with substance use?

Yes. Our Idaho clinician has experience treating trauma alongside substance use concerns.

My card says UnitedHealthcare. Do I contact Optum or UHC?

You don’t need to contact either first. Send us your member identification (ID) number and we’ll confirm which part of your plan manages mental health benefits.
